Perhaps you've noticed that I love ginger. Forever ago, Scott and I bought two pints of Haggen Dazs Five ice cream: one chocolate and one ginger. We don’t buy ice cream very often, but when we do, we like to get two different-flavored pints and nestle a scoop of each in our bowls. When the ice cream is almost gone, we skip the bowls and eat straight from the cartons, passing them back and forth between us as we sit on our plaid couch and cheer for the people who opt for a "true Daily Double" on Jeopardy! Inevitably, one flavor becomes the favorite, and when we get to the last spoonful, there is an awkward moment where each of us wants to let the other person eat the last bite, but is secretly hoping the other will say, "No, you eat it." I suppose we could avoid our little battle of the spoons by always using bowls, but where is the fun in that? Pin It

Chocolate Almond Espresso Spritz
I have been working on several new recipes that I am looking forward to sharing with you. In an ideal world, I would already have them photographed, written up, and ready to post. In the real world though, I spent the past few days alternating between a flurry of activity in the kitchen and a sedentary existence on the couch devouring the The Count of Monte Cristo. Perhaps you feel the same way as I do about the The Count of Monte Cristo (or The Count of Monte Crisco, as Scott likes to call it): it is addictive.

Walnut Rolls
I am super excited to share this recipe with you! I've been working on it on and off again since the beginning of February, so it is great to finally have a product that is blog-worthy and relatively fool-proof! I made this recipe over the weekend at my parents' house. Lots of people were coming for the weekend (18 to be exact!) so I got there Thursday night to secure a bed and bake this bread. Just kidding! I really got there early so I could spend the day with my mom.

Toasted Oat, Plum, and Pecan Cookies
I made a variation of these cookies for an awesome wedding that we recently went to. I had a special request for a diabetic-friendly cookie, and my mom sent me a few potential recipes to try out. I'm going to share something with you now that I never thought I would: I actually like dried plums. I imagine that some of the food purists out there are saying, rightly so, "Did she just call a prune a dried plum?" Yes, I am completely guilty of trying to make one of the ingredients in these cookies sound more appealing.
